About Terri Hilliard
Terri E. Hilliard, Esq. is the principal of Terri Hilliard, P.C. in Westlake Village, CA. Her practice centers on advanced estate and business succession planning, asset protection, special needs trusts, and family protection planning for seniors. She is also a private mediator focused on helping families, elders, individuals and businesses resolve disputes. She earned her law degree from Loyola Law School in 1989, following her successful business career as an investment advisor. While at Loyola, she was a contributing author of the Loyola Entertainment Law Journal.
Today, she is an admitted member of all California State and Federal Courts, the California State Bar, Southern California Mediation Association, Eldercare Mediators, and the Ventura County Bar Association, Estates section and Wealth Counsel. She is accredited with the Veterans Administration and skilled in Medi-Cal Planning.
Ms. Hilliard also trained as a mediator at The Straus Institute, Pepperdine School of Law and Loyola Law School. She is currently a court-approved mediator and has served on Los Angeles Court civil and probate panels.
She is a contributing author of a book entitled, “Protecting Your Legacy: What You Really Need to Know for the Second Half of Life” with a focus on family mediation and aging. She is also a skilled public speaker and panel moderator on a wide variety of subjects, including caring for seniors, Medi-Cal, long-term care, deed transfers upon death, divorce and estate planning, senior abuse and scams, purposeful estate planning, transition planning and conservatorships for special needs young adults, estate and financial planning, aging, strategies for health and wealth, planned giving, business succession planning, and politics and the special needs community.
She is a member of the Moorpark Morning Rotary, Conejo Valley Estate Planning Counsel, Provisors, Wealth Counsel and Elder Counsel, and active in various non-profit organizations focused on meeting the needs of senior and special needs families. She is the Vice President and on the Board for Pause4Kids and a long-time Board Member of Senior Concerns of the Conejo, supporting special needs individuals, elders and their caregivers in her community. She created the successful Pro Bono Panel of Attorney program called “Legal Concerns” at Senior Concerns, where she lends her expertise in eldercare, estate planning and mediation, as well as planned giving.
