03/10/2017 – Williamsport, PA — Julieanne E. Steinbacher, CELA*, of Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak recently served on a panel of medical and legal professionals to discuss ways of communicating end-of-life preferences. The general public was invited to view PBS’s FRONTLINE film “Being Mortal” on February 22 at the Trade & Transit Center II, in downtown Williamsport. UPMC Susquehanna hosted the free, film screening as a part of their Hospice and Palliative Care and Caring programs. Panel members were available after the showing for a question and answer session.
“Being Mortal” is based on the book (by the same name) written by Atul Gawande, MD, to educate audiences on the importance of planning ahead for the unthinkable. Audiences are encouraged to take real, concrete action to identify their wishes for end-of-life care, and how to properly communicate these wishes to loved ones. Free film screenings are occurring nationwide to stress the importance of proper planning and clear communication.
